Nothing ILLUMINATES CHARACTER more than how ferociously you fight when you’re the nail, not the hammer.

The No. 1 ranked wrestler in the nation was getting hammered 9-0 — a daunting deficit — yet storms back in ONE OF THE MORE EPIC COMEBACKS you’ll see in the sport.

So incredible and inspiring was Thomas Gilman’s victory over the sixth-ranked 125-pounder, even some opposing fans couldn’t help smiling or applauding his comeback.

Gilman’s mindset?

“He (Gilman) tried to dominate even when he was behind 8-0,” said Iowa Coach Tom Brands, according to Landof10.com.

“I don’t think he wore himself out; I WORE HIM OUT,” Gilman said, according to Landof10.com. “I didn’t concede.

“Most guys would have said, ‘Well, next time.’ I made him work. Even though he was scoring points, I BROKE HIM from the bottom position. Then, once I got on my feet, it was game over.”
